Feeling cute, might delete later.
After a few years of watching the KY Office from the sidelines, I asked myself, "What am I waiting for?" So, I applied to work at KY—only to get rejected. I felt so discouraged that I almost didn’t apply for the board. But with a little encouragement, I decided to go for it, and I can't tell you how much I would have regretted not applying. 🙌
Not everything goes as planned, but we shouldn’t let the fear of failure stop us from trying new things. If I hadn’t taken that leap, I wouldn’t be here writing this today. This year has genuinely been one of the best of my life. If you have met me, you know that I’m not shy about sharing my opinions, and this role has given me the chance to voice them where they can make a difference. Honestly, how often do you have the chance to try new ideas, knowing that even if you fail, you can learn and try something else? 🚀
During my board year, I have focused on making adjustments to what we already have, which made room for new ideas that could benefit our whole community. This includes launching this year’s Accessibility survey, providing tutors with ready-made materials, streamlining communication channels, and focusing on events like Pride. My daily schedule is never the same, excluding answering Telegram messages, which is a recurring task for me. 💬
Reflecting on this year, I’m grateful for the incredible experiences that I have had. From dinner with reporters from the UK to participating in interviews and attending the Nordic Forum with business schools from across the region, each moment has been pretty awesome. 😎
Finally, my favorite memories from this year include (but are not limited to) brainrotting with the board in Espilä, every time we sang "Careless Whisper" together, every annual ball (I'm an annual ball lover), board game nights, and the tutor cottage. 🎶
The moral of my story? Don’t be afraid to fail; try something new! <3
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to call me or send me a text, and we can talk more! 🧡💚
