One more year
You could say I dived to the deep end of student activities right at the start of my studies. My subcommittee year in KUJ was closely followed by KUVA and two productions of KY-Speksi. During my 3rd year, I remember stating that I would “retire” from KY, maybe focus more on my studies or just attend events instead of organizing them for a change. Well, here I am as the vice chairman of the KY board. I guess I wasn’t ready to retire after all.
Alongside general board responsibilities as the vice chair, I have been in charge of finance and the student center project. Finance means that I oversee and report on the association’s investment portfolio and participate in budgeting.
As many of you probably know, the student center project is one of KY’s key strategic initiatives. I represent KY in the project and coordinate the discussion and planning from KY’s side. I work closely with our board member Antti and together we are responsible for KY’s new premises initiative. We are part of the Student Center team with AYY’s and TF’s representatives. Furthermore, together with the team, we cooperate with Aalto University faculty and Aalto University Campus & Real Estate (ACRE).
Besides this “work work”, the year has been full of memorable events! Loads of cottage trips, both business and pleasure, annual balls and international collaboration, just to name a few highlights. The year has also provided me with loads of learning experiences and opportunities to push myself out of my comfort zone.
But the most important aspect has been working with smart and awesome people throughout the year. I count my fellow board members and office personnel amongst my best friends. The year has been demanding yet truly rewarding, and I wouldn’t change it for the world.
