KY’s Company of the Week – SEB: LC&FI Summer Internship

Summer at SEB: Petra’s experience as a LC&FI Summer Intern

Every summer, SEB’s division Corporates & Financial Institutions (LC&FI) offers university students an exciting opportunity to learn more about the financial industry and SEB’s global operations.

Our Summer internship at LC&FI is a great opportunity for you to work in a global banking environment and get to know SEB as a possible future employer. Our vision is to provide world-class service and therefore we need engaged and customer-focused employees who work together to find simple solutions in a digital world.

In this blog our current summer intern, Petra Hovi, describes her experience with SEB.

In the LC&FI internship, you will work as a member of an assigned team, but you are highly encouraged to familiarise yourself with other teams within SEB based on your interests. My intern position is located in the most vivid part of the bank – the Markets division. Every day is unique, and you never know what the day will bring. At SEB, the interns are considered as full team members and receive much responsibility, at the same time this will allow a steep learning curve and developing yourself as a future professional.

I work as an intern in SEB’s FICC Sales team, where my tasks are mainly revolved around credit sales. We sell and market various fixed income instruments to a wide group of institutional clients, such as asset managers, pension funds, agencies, central banks and other banks. During the internship, I have increased my knowledge of bond issuers, terms and pricing, secondary markets and Nordic investor base, just to name a few. Our work is very client-oriented, and I touch base with our key clients on a daily basis. Moreover, we maintain a close collaboration with our colleagues located in other European offices.

I highly recommend the internship for anyone with a strong interest in financial markets and a desire to pursue a career within the banking industry. Even though you are able to apply the knowledge gained during prior studies as well, the internship is truly about having the chance and willingness to learn something new every day.

The application period for the LC&FI Summer Internship 2021 will be open later this year. To find out more please visit
