Do you have a moment to talk about Communications?

My name is Pyry. I’m the KY Board member responsible for Communications, Brand and Digital KY. This has been the one of the roughest years of my life. This has also been one of the best.

I have worked until 12 o’clock in the evening, working on orientation week’s communication schedule, Wappu plans or election campaigns. I’ve also had unforgettable G&T powered moments with my Communications partners Nina and Elina. I’ve played beer pong all over Europe with our wonderful board. I’ve joked around with Antti when we’re both tired af after campaign days.

Communications sector is the largest and the most beautiful sector in KY. Our sector includes me, Communications Coordinator, AD, IT and the Editor-In-Chief of Kylteri magazine. All of these people have been amazing and made this whole year possible.

My closest partners have been the Comms Coordinators Elina and Nina. Together we maintain the normal communications in KY, which consist mostly of different social medias. Planning and creating takes a huge chunk of my time. We can pretty much decide which of one of us does what. Communicating with your partner(s) is an important part of the Comms sector.

Big projects of this year have been the new t-shirt, new tool for comms, Wappu, orientation week and naturally elections. As a communications responsible, you can decide (together with your sector) what is important and what to leave behind. That is one of the best and one of the worst thing about communications: you can do whatever you want, but you don’t have time to do everything you want.

When I got the call from Arttu, I knew this was going to be an amazing year. It ended up being so much more. Everything you give KY, KY gives you back ten-fold.
