Company of the Week: Road to Account Manager’s position at KPMG

It’s time to take a look behind the scenes of our partner KPMG with three interesting career stories. This time KPMG’s weekly corporate blog is an #allfemalepanel. Meet Emma, Tiina and Anna, our superwomen!

I graduated from Aalto University School of Business at spring 2013 after a few busy years filled with work. My major was Management and I also studied Business Technology, Economics and Corporate Law as Minors.

During studies I gained work experience from banking and insurance industries, but my true passion and the thing that took majority of my time during student years was KY and its student activities in all shapes and forms. A hobby changed into responsibilities in the KY board, and later on to a highly demanding work as the first Managing Director of KY Foundation.  The decision to work full time and postpone graduation with two years wasn’t the easiest choice to make. But on the other hand a possibility to steer the Foundation through massive organizational and financial shake-up while at the same time fitting in the history, traditions and values of a 100-year-old to a completely new situation, was an opportunity only a few 24-year-olds at the early stages of their career get to seize.

On the edge of graduation, I felt it was time to make a move from non-profit organization to corporate world. That’s when my thesis counsel stepped in and recommended me to apply for a job at an executive search company Stanton Chase to headhunt corporate leaders. When working in a close cooperation with our clients, I noticed myself lighting up from solving their problems and especially building and cherishing long term client relationships.

I started as KPMG’s Account Manager in autumn 2015. At that point KPMG had already started a journey towards more and more client centric operating model, and in this newly established role I found myself in the core of this truly inspiring change. The first year has gone fast: I’ve had the chance to develop our strategic customer relations, educate and motivate our experts and build new kinds of sales and account management models. Once again I find myself in that fascinating situation where I can be part of steering a 90-year old organization towards a new corporate culture and a future full of opportunities.
