Meet Tuomas and Anttu – both have graduated from Aalto University School of Business and both have worked in various roles and projects at BearingPoint for the past few years. Read more on their career stories below and find out what working as a consultant is like at BearingPoint.

Tuomas Kiviranta

MSc in Economics (Aalto University School of Business), Senior Consultant at BearingPoint, working in our Financial Services team since 2016

Why did you join BearingPoint?

I saw a job opening on LinkedIn. I thought that as a Business Consultant at BearingPoint I could leverage my previously learned skills in finance and IT. Also, I felt like in consulting I would better be able to focus on development projects instead of day-to-day routine tasks.

What kind of projects have you been working on during your time at BearingPoint?

I have mostly worked in regulatory reporting projects for client banks and insurance companies in both Helsinki and Stockholm. My role in the projects have included regulatory interpretation, reporting process design and implementation, project management, testing and IT asset management. Project durations have varied between 3 weeks and 2 years.

How is it to work at BearingPoint? What motivates you in your work?

Our competency development model guarantees lots of feedback to all our people. This helps me to improve myself and develop faster. In my projects, I am able to leverage my strengths and I have freedom to choose how to accomplish goals. I feel like my contribution is appreciated by clients, colleagues and company. I get to work closely with clients in addition to the great friends at BearingPoint.

Anttu Ahlberg

MSc in Accounting (Aalto University School of Business), Senior Consultant at BearingPoint, working in our Digital & Strategy team since 2016

Why did you join BearingPoint?

When I heard about the role in our Digital & Strategy team, I got extremely excited about the combination of digitalization and strategy. The fact that we are at the forefront in the field of digital business and thus involved in latest concepts was luring to me. On the other hand, the strategy focus brings also a bigger perspective into the mix.

What types of projects have you been working with during your time at BearingPoint?

I’ve been a part of a variety of projects during my time here. I have worked on a market study for a client company in the financial industry. I’ve also been involved in a statistical analysis project for the public sector. The project that I’m currently working on has included design-thinking but also upper-level strategy consideration. We also did a preliminary project for the current one where we explored possible strategic initiatives for the client. I have been in both delivery-oriented and project management roles.

How is it to work at BearingPoint? What motivates you in your work?

One of my favorite things is the community we have here. I know almost everyone and there’s a family-like feeling at the office. The company truly cares about its employees and contributes to enhancing the culture. Small fun things such as our candy- and healthy snack Fridays really brighten up the work week. The internal culture is supportive, there is no competition against peers – rather we work together in teams. An important motivator for me is that I get to work with interesting cases. Also, the consulting field changes constantly, which is thrilling.
